Recurring NPCs

  • Alekos is a wizard based at the Townhall Archives in Bryn Shander who is working to identify the cause and solution to the Rime of the Frostmaiden.
  • "Ma" (Ethen Yarbroul), surrogate mother to Zanborin, is a diminutive, gray-haired widow who runs the 3 Flags Sailing Inn in Targos.
  • Eglath Yeticrusher is the friendly nephew to Arn Rockfist Akannathi, the chieftain of the rival Skytower Shelter. Eglath is searching for a magical cure for the blindness of his great-aunt, Kaniaka Stormcrow.
  • Garret (Velryn) (husband of Keenan and owner of the dog Boy) is a wilderness guide based in Targos.
  • Janth Alowar is the spirit of a medicinal botanist killed by Ravisin, and currently occupies the body of a human trader. He was one of a party of five of the Arcane Brotherhood who arrived in Icewind Dale a few months before the Party's arrival.
  • Klaus Hildegard is the sergeant-of-the-guard in Termalaine and a budding friend to Zarra. An honorable and fearsome fighter, he is bound by oath to obey Lt. Skerrin provided his honor is not besmirched.
  • Marta Peskryk is the teenaged innkeeper of the Eastside Inn in Termalaine who suffers, along with her father, from a cursed ring which the Frost Druid Ravisin gave to them.
  • Cora Mulphoon is the female human keeper of the Treasured Inn of Bremen, and mother of Huarwar Mulphoon.
  • Huarwar Mulphoon is the son of Cora Mulphoon. He abruptly left Bremen, with two mysterious tieflings wearing chardalyn amulets, vowing never to return.
  • Oarus Masthew is the half-orc Speaker of Termalaine, elected in a close and contentious election. He is the adopted son of Shaelen Masthew, the now-retired Speaker.
  • Naerth (Maxildanarr) is the Speaker of Targos, reputed to be corrupt and loyally supported by his militia and its captain Skath Ilkadare.
  • Nass Lantomir is a missing wizard colleague of Vellynne Harpell who possesses the magical sphere which Vellynne seeks.
  • Ravisin and Vurnis are Frost Druids who have been taking action around Ten Towns to drum up fear to appease and empower Auril, including encouraging human sacrifices and "awakened" beasts to attack inhabitants.
  • Russel Knight is the friendly proprietor of the Trip & Shuffle in Targos.
  • Dorbulgruf Shalescar is the Speaker of Bremen. He has been a shadow of his former self ever since he and his militia ran the Frost Druids, Ravisin and Vurnis, out of Bremen about a year ago.
  • Griffa Shalescar is the daughter of Dorbulgruf Shalescar, and acting Speaker of Bremen due to her father's dementia.
  • Sheefta (Delvinish) is a feisty, elderly tiefling female who acts a Head Clerk at the Bremen Townhall. She is trusted implicitly by Griffa Shalescar.
  • Skath (Ilkadare), captain of the Targosan militia, is purportedly in charge of the human sacrifice lottery there, on behalf of its Speaker Naerth Maxildanarr.
  • Lt. Skerrin is the seedy half-elf who is second-in-command of the Termalaine militia, and ally to Naerth Maxildanaar, Speaker of Targos.
  • Markham Southwell is the Sheriff of Bryn Shander, and commander of the largest militia in Ten Towns. He is known as a man of high character and courage, but also as a pragmatist who will bend the rules when needed for the greater good.
  • Tali (Erylfok) is a female half-elf climate/wildlife researcher whom you met in Bremen and who employed you to gather information on the "Monster of Maer Dualdon". She and Zanborin share a passion for scientific discovery.
  • Tap Tap is a male kenku, a former employee of Old Man Gallaway and now proprietor of the Trade Depot in Targos. Indications are that he is a toady of Speaker Naerth Maxildanaar.
  • "Toothless" is the awakened plesiosaur who was the "Monster of Maer Dualdon" until you persuaded it to leave the people of Bremen alone. It has gratefully agreed to speak to Tali Erylfok to relieve its boredom, and to be available to Zanborin for future conversation as well.
  • Torrga (Icevein) is a female dwarf who owns Torrga's, a small traveling merchant company. She allegedly deals in stolen goods, runs a protection racket, and perhaps commits contract murders on the sly. Zanborin has wondered if Torrga may have been involved in his mother's murder.
  • Hlin Trollbane, dwarven friend to Russel Knight, is a former bounty hunter, retired to Bryn Shander to avoid the many enemies she has made plying her profession up and down the Sword Coast. Russel advises that Hlin is investigating the recent murders, and that she despises Torrga Icevein.
  • Vellynne Harpell, is a wizard seeking her fellow wizard Nass Lantomir and a magical sphere which she says may assist in lifting the Rime of the Frostmaiden.
  • Zarruck (Tuskripper) is a half-orc fence of stolen goods who is currently dealing in weapons which she stole from the Bryn Shander Armory.
