Session 1 - A Beginning in Bremen

General Summary

Session Start: Zanborin, Skolas and Zarra awoke in a Bremen inn following their arduous journey to Icewind Dale, bereft of supplies, low on gold and without sufficient winter wear to travel throughout Icewind Dale.
Session Events: Cora the innkeeper asked the Party to look out for her formerly doting son, Huarwar, who had mysteriously left town with two tieflings wearing amulets of "black ice". During breakfast at the Trout's Noggin, the Party heard rumors of a "lake monster" and other trouble not long after two Frost Druid sisters (Ravisin and Vurnis) were run out of town for harrassing the populace to begin human sacrifices to appease the Frostmaiden Goddess Auril. They also learned of a potentially valuable shipwreck, the Dark Duchess, far to the northwest in the Sea of Moving Ice. During a fishing expedition the Party encountered the lake monster, a magically "awakened" plesiosaur, and eventually persuaded it to stop attacking Bremen fishers as it had been doing at the behest of Ravisin, the Frost Druid. Later, at the Grumpy Moose tavern, they learned of: a lottery to determine human sacrifice victims in the town of Targos; a murder victim there who had bribed his way out of the lottery; and the potential involvement in the murder of Torrga Icevein, the shady dwarven owner of a traveling merchant caravan. Finally, they heard a tale of a naked, seemingly "undead" man with icy blue eyes who walked out of the sea about two years ago, seemingly impervious to the cold, and walked off in the direction of Targos.
