Session 7 - Bye-Bye Bryn Shander

General Summary

The Party visited the Hooked Knucklehead on the trail of Zarruck Tuskripper, the fence who had bribed Sheriff Markham Southwell's guards to look the other way in the theft of weapons from the town Armory. Finding her there with her accomplices, Zanborin picked up enough of their thieves cant conversation to determine that the stolen goods might have a connection with Therrom's Warehouse. Given the late hour, the Party returned to the Northlook for rest and there Zanborin found a note from his recently made acquaintance, Tali Eryfolk, the half-elf climatologist and wildlife researcher, bidding him join her at the Townhall Archives while his compatriots slept.
Upon arrival at the Archives, Tali greeted Zanborin warmly and shared the warm regards of Toothless in the form of a gift -- an emerald gem recoved by Toothless from a shipwreck at the bottom of Maer Dualdon. Tali introduced Zanborin to Alekos, a kindly wizard and invaluable arcanic resource who answered many of Zanborin's questions. Alekos requested Zanborin's assistance in his quest to make sense of the many strange goings-on across Ten Towns, including the recent rash of awakened beings and their possible connection with the activities of duargers and frost druids.     Early the next morning, the Party informed Sheriff Markham of the overheard conversation of Zarruck and her accomplices, and all recognized the mutual benefit of keeping this and future coordination among them secret. After collecting both partial payment from the Sheriff pending recovery of the stolen weapons, and the two axe-beaks from the Stable, the Party set off for Termalaine still on the trail of Torrga.      While barely out of sight of the imposing walls of Bryn Shander, the Party encountered three bloodied mountain dwarves who had been forced to flee from a hungry yeti, leaving behind their comrade and their sled of specially-crafted iron ingots bound for Termalaine. Enticed by the dwarves' offer of valuable gemstones for return of their comrade and sled, the Party set off. They soon found the half-eaten remains of the comrade, with tracks of the sled leading away to north. Not long after, they came upon the sled commandeered by goblins and headed toward the goblins' home wagon base. Initially rejecting the Party's pleas for a peaceful resolution, the goblins relented after receiving a quick, non-lethal thrashing.  The Party, following their natural instincts, provided the goblins with a generous "buy-out" to assist feeding their tribe, and commandeered the sled themselves.
