The Iceward - Climate Effects in Ketria

The "Iceward" of Ketria is the observable circular pattern of ice of ice growth and melting at incredible speeds, as recorded by the Auramancer Brighid Gannet from her laboratory in Skysail. The following is taken from her recorded notes. 
"Large flows of freezing elemental energies seem to move centered around the edge of the Quartzwood. The energies pass straight over Lake Attayal, yet the waters seem overall unaffected. Landmasses show incredible rates of ice crystal growth when inside the energies, and frost quickly covers the ground. I believe these spaces may even be colder than those recorded, and my estimates lie around 50 beats below. Recent recordings show that spaces becoming defrosted as the energies move on have spikes in temperature unlike anything previously noted. The triome seems to be building energy, and becomes more and more unstable daily. The Writhing Storm seems to be tireless lately. I believe these two things to have been connected. A number of ships have been lost this month to the incredibly aggressive behavior of the creature. I talked to Dr. Brin and she's done some work with an acquired flank of a Stormwild Capridor captured over Savai, and I believe we may be close to finding a material to help the city endure Xyris' attacks."
