The War of Dwarven Suppression

The Conflict

Prelude

The three races that primarily inhabited the continent of _____, once insular and isolated from one another, began to intermingle in the late centuries of the Second Age. The sharing of ideas was beneficial to each race, but none more than the Dwarves, whose newfound access to resources and knowledge sparked a technological revolution. As the Dwarves began to create new machines for agriculture, manufacturing, and war, the Humans and Elves took notice, and began to worry that their rapid expansion posed a threat to the rest of the cultures on the continent. The alliance of Humans and Elves spent several years planning and training their armies in secret, preparing to strike the Dwarves and cripple their growth.

Battlefield

The War of Dwarven Suppression was primarily fought in the Dwarven territories, as the Humans and Elves pushed the front line deeper towards the capital city ____ over the course of the campaign. The Dwarves were unable to gather enough of a resistance to launch very many meaningful counter attacks, and spent most of the 13 years defending their cities until capture.

Outcome

The Dwarven race are re-settled into a small region of mountainous terrain, suited to their metal and stoneworking talents. The Elves return to their traditional homelands, leaving the humans to settle the remaining regions, and expand their holdings

Aftermath

The continent settles into an uneasy calm, and the three races spend the next several decades mostly isolated from one another as they recover from the significant losses, and begin to develop in a post-conflict world. In the future, as a universal calendar is established, historians mark the end of the War of Dwarven Suppression as the beginning of the Third Age of the world.

Historical Significance

Legacy

For centuries after the war Dwarves passed down to their children tales of the treachery of Humans and Elves, leading to a general distrust of other races, and insular communities of Dwarves across the world

Technological Advancement

The technological advancements of the Dwarves that sparked the War of Dwarven Suppression, and those built during its campaign drastically changed the course of the world afterwards. Siege engines, devastating weapons of war, and ships unlike ever seen before were created by both sides of the conflict. The industrialization required to sustain a continent over the course of a 13 year war meant that a new age of technology and progress was sparked from the ashes of the fallen.
