Bone Worms

CW: gore, flesh-eating parasites, general grossness.

Transmission & Vectors

Transmitted through food contaminant, blood, or saliva.

Symptoms

Excessive eating, constipation, stomach pains, and unnaturally pale/gaunt skin.

Treatment

No known cure.

Prognosis

Excessive eating, constipation: 1-2 days after transmission. Bloated stomach: 3-4 days. Pale skin, black marks on stomach: 5 days. Intense stomach pain, selective paralysis: four hours after black marks appear. Death soon after- worms eat through stomach and consume the body until only bones remain.

Prevention

Face guards, no open wounds when in contact with afflicted. Entire body coverage and immediate wash after contact.

History

During the Shattering, began with the mine workers in the mountains. Not realizing its danger, by the time it had infected the general populace of Tragor, it was too late. Walls and blockades were erected outside of cities to prevent it from spreading to the other Kingdoms, access was strictly observed and reserved for healers, but after magic disappeared, there was no hope at finding a cure. After so many years, Tragor has become a Kingdom of bones, due to the parasites leaving nothing but bones remaining, but the parasites still inhabit the land, and threaten to infect anyone who travels there to this day.
