Province of Imea

Once the gleaming gem at the edges of lush forests, Imea celebrated their connection with nature and was a well known center for scholarly pursuits. Close in proximity to most of the laylines running throughout Ilela, magic was both common and abundant before the Shattering.
Magic was freely celebrated in Imea, with several different settlements and colleges dedicated to both the arcane and the magic linked closely with the natural world. While the laylines unlocked greater potential for magic and using it's power, for some, the power proved to be too much.
Run by the council of Archmagi, Imea suffered a betrayal during the lunar festival, and while there were heroic efforts to circumvent complete collapse, something drastic occurred that no one has discovered to this day. Whatever it was happened at the moment of summoning, when the sky was opened and invited a host of demons forth. Before the demons could completely overrun the continent, magic was sealed away from the world. It kept the demons localized to Imea, unable to venture north for fear of plague and east for fear of dragons, but the damage was done. Whether magic will return remains the greatest mystery of them all, and the continent and all its people feel it's loss as keenly as day.
Whatever mystery lies to returning it lies underneath the treacherous, perilous, demon-infested jungle.
