Clan Akai is the oldest clan of the three datings back to 300 A.C. Their words are often seen as a bit totalitarian and barbaric and perhaps for the first few hundred years of the post-Calamity that was true. However, Clan Akai is now a family and nation that prides itself on law and order. The laws of Clan Akai have a monument in every town they control listing each fair and equitable law they uphold and their sentence for breaking. The people are committed to these laws and will personally detain anyone seen committing a crime until the Keepers show up to deal with the appropriate sentence. They are very tradition-bound and can be seen as stubborn, but when one accepts the Akai way of life in behavior, customs, and demeanors they are more than amiable.

Royal Family

The current ruler of Clan Akai is Empress Suen, the elderly consort of the previous ruler. He was a known philanderer and miscreant until Suen brought her own husband to face his crimes. He disappeared and she has sat on the throne since she was a young woman. She is respected by her husband’s family who has solidified her rule and is currently looking for a new suitor for her that she may remarry and have an heir (although it is assumed that due to her age the child would be adopted).
