Dragonborn

Common Goals & Problems

Each Dragonborn is born with a pair. For every chromatic Dragonborn, there is a metallic Dragonborn and vice versa.
Each Dragonborn is sent to the material plane to accomplish something. They might not know what it is but they are raised to always be on the lookout for it, as well as their Dragonborn partner. Their secondary goal in life is to kill their Dragonborn partner.
However, they're two fates are tied together as one. If one Dragonborn kills another and that's its pair, four to five years later that Dragonborn will die.
It's not instinct, really. It is a duty to balance. Plus, if they kill their pair, there is nothing from stopping them for the next 4-5 years. A Chromatic Dragonborn could do a lot of bad or a metallic Dragonborn could do a lot of good.

It is a drive to do good or bad and loyalty to their Father/Mother.
The biggest thing that is relevant to the Dragonborn is that whenever they change, their pair does as well. It is very similar to yin & yang. If one started to adopt more metallic qualities, one's partner would do the opposite. Not because they feel compelled to do so, but due to the Weavers of Fate. It just happens.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dragonborn look very much like Dragons standing erect in Humanoid form, though they lack wings or a tail. The first dragonborn had scales of vibrant hues matching the colors of their Dragon kin, but generations of interbreeding have created a more uniform appearance. Their small, fine scales are usually brass or bronze in color, sometimes ranging to scarlet, rust, gold, or copper-green. They are tall and strongly built, often standing close to 6½ feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more. Their hands and feet are strong, talonlike claws with three fingers and a thumb on each hand.
The blood of a particular type of Dragon runs very strong through some dragonborn clans. These dragonborn often boast scales that more closely match those of their Dragon ancestor—bright red, green, blue, or white, lustrous black, or gleaming metallic gold, silver, brass, copper, or bronze.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragonborn, funny enough, are not born. Typically they are left at a temple of Bahamut or a shrine to Tiamet. Scholars are not exactly how it happens but most assume it is a divine intervention of the gods of Dragonkind.   Due to this factor, Dragonborn are created without reproductive organs. This not mean they are not able to eventually have children. If a Dragonborn were to find their soulbond, they are actually able to create an offspring. This child is created entirely through magical serendipity. When strong enough bond has been created and has been tested the energy and magic between the Dragonborn and their soulbond will create a baby of the partner's race. Sadly this bond creates a strain on the Dragonborn and after a period of 4-5 years, they will fade, and continue the cycle of the Dragonborn.
