Planar Travel Through the Ages
The First Age
Planar travel was mysticised and feared in this age. Most people knew of its existence and the chaos that it had caused in the times before and did there best to avoid it. "Common" methods of jumping between planes in this age were naturally occuring portals.
The Second Age
Due to the fear over planar travel from the previous age much of the past knowledge on the subject was lost by the beginning of this age, and very little planar travel was known to happen. During the later years of the age, however, scholars began to research the topic again.
The Third Age
While still a mostly theoretical topic, research into planar travel expanded throughout this age with more and more people attempting to cross between planes.
The Fourth Age
By the Fourth Age, although still not a very well known idea, the concept of planar travel had very much come back to a level of knowledge not known since the First Age. While still mostly done by scholars and unfortunate adventurers, the idea of different planes was something more widely discussed.
