The White Fox

The White Fox danced and played with her three companion Guardians, the Mist Owl, the Crystal Koi and the Ivory Snake. Rarely did they get the opportunity to rest from their duties, so the respite was indeed a welcome one. The Fox led them to play in the forest and the streams, even creating a slide of snow down a hill for them to enjoy. With loud shouts of happiness, they slid down and scampered back up again and again until the sun hung low and they finally admitted how tired they were. Only reluctantly did they end the day’s play, to rest, eat and resume their duties.

But, once they returned to the Vault, they found it unguarded, even though the Fox had promised that her brother would watch it for them. Turning to ask her where the Chimera was, they could not find the Fox either. With terror in their hearts, they rushed through the entrance and found the Vault itself open. Inside, nothing remained.
