House Hohenheim

The Hohenheim Legacy: Three Centuries of Shadow and Influence

The Black Epoch (300 Years Ago)

The Shadow Merchant:

The rise of the Hohenheim lineage began with Victor Hohenheim, a cunning and sharp-witted merchant. He dealt in rare and exotic goods but made the bulk of his fortune through the underground trading of forbidden artifacts and relics. Victor's dealings with the Black Network weren't direct but were through intermediaries. This ensured that while he reaped the benefits, his hands appeared clean.

Marriage of Strategy:

Victor sought to cement the Hohenheim name within the elite of Ryhanroos. To do this, he arranged a marriage between his only daughter, Alina, and the son of a powerful Ryhanroos noble. This union brought not only love but also vast lands, political influence, and a noble title for the Hohenheims.

Building Strongholds:

Using his immense wealth, Victor commissioned the construction of the Hohenheim Manor, a sprawling estate that would serve as the family's primary residence and a testament to their rising prominence. The manor, built with secret chambers and tunnels, became a hub for clandestine meetings and covert deals.

The Age of Artistry (200 Years Ago)

The Renewal Man:

Lorcan Hohenheim, Victor's grandson, was a man of many talents. A painter, poet, and musician, Lorcan endeavored to rebrand the family image from shadowy merchants to patrons of the arts. He sponsored artists, hosted grand galas, and turned the Hohenheim Manor into a center for culture.

The Hohenheim Academy:

Lorcan established an academy within Ryhanroos that focused on the arts, music, and arcane studies. This institution attracted scholars and artists from far and wide, further boosting the Hohenheim reputation.

Secrets Beneath:

While Lorcan loved the arts, he wasn't naive. He expanded the underground network of tunnels beneath the manor, using them for discreet meetings with members of the Black Network and ensuring the family's ties with the underworld remained robust.

Era of Consolidation (100 Years Ago)

The Diplomat:

Seraphine Hohenheim, Lorcan's great-niece, emerged as a skilled diplomat. Recognizing that power wasn't just in wealth but in influence, she sought alliances with other powerful families, both in Ryhanroos and beyond. This period saw the Hohenheims strengthen their political clout.

The Hidden Hand:

While Seraphine played the game of politics, her younger brother, Thaddeus, operated from the shadows. It was during his time that the Hohenheims solidified their position within the Black Network. Thaddeus, using a combination of blackmail, bribery, and strategic assassinations, ensured that any threats to the Hohenheims were swiftly neutralized.

The Heirloom:

To symbolize their power and influence, the Hohenheims acquired a mystical artifact known as the "Ebon Mirror" through unknown means. Rumored to have been created by ancient dark mages, this artifact was believed to grant visions of potential futures. It was stored deep within Hohenheim Manor, guarded by layers of magical defenses.

The Prelude to the Modern Era

As the decades rolled on, the Hohenheim name became synonymous with both splendor and shadow. Each generation added layers of complexity to the family's legacy. By the time Count Rupert Hohenheim came into the picture, the family's influence was deeply entrenched in the fabric of Ryhanroos, poised to shape its future in ways even the Ebon Mirror might not have foreseen.
