Imaginaerium, Day 5 - Themeparks

You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
— Maya Angelou
The same is true for ideas, too. There's a tendency for writers to "save" our best ideas for that magical moment when it will all come together and make us a million bucks - my massive collection of notepads can attest to that. More often than not, these end up collecting dust and never see the light of day. So don't be afraid to use them; you'll always have more ideas.   And here are some fun things to inspire some new ones!

Book Recommendation

The Generals is an interesting piece of US military history, with a focus on the personalities of the US armed forces. Specifically (as the name might've tipped you off to) generals.   More then that, though, it's an interesting look at military history and changing mores, of accountability, competence, and how an organization can evolve.   It is highly recommended, and you can get it here:

Video Recommendation

Defunctland is a youtube channel that talks about the history of theme-parks and similar places, from the wild rides to the financial shenaniganery. Of course, it has an episode on everyone's favorite death-trap of a theme park: Action Park!   And as you'll see at the end of this, don't underestimate the ideas that can come from the concept of theme parks.

Music Recommendation

Oh, it's so easy when you're evil...

World Recommendation

Remember how I said theme parks would come up again?   What is the SCP foundation opened theme parks for the public to make a buck? can perhaps be the quickest way to describe Timepool's excellent world of ARPA: Anomalous Parks & Recreation Areas.   Eldritch horrors and weird abominations are put on display for the public to gawk at, with a great sense of satirical humor and high strangeness.   Definitely one to check it out!
