Shatterspine Ridge

A vast mountain range that forms the northeast border of Falondis. The Shatterspine Iceflow, which flows southwest into Falondis, has its headwaters very high in the mountains, fed by frigid lakes.

Geography

The Shatterspine Ridge features tall, rugged peaks, tundra regions, basins and valleys, and thickly forested regions. Fresh water flows from icecaps as well as frigid mountaintop lakes. Hot springs dot the mountains as well.

Ecosystem

Ecology on the Ridge is varied and thriving. The western foothills of the mountains are characterized by thick deciduous forests, which slowly shift to evergreen conifers as one travels up in altitude.

Fauna & Flora

Wildlife is highly varied and includes large predators like bears, wolves, and cougars, as well as large herbivores such as moose, bighorn sheep, and mountain goats.

Natural Resources

The Falondan Empire harvests timber liberally throughout the low- and mid-altitude reaches of the Shatterspine Ridge. There are also mineral and ore mines.
