Bane

(a.k.a. The Black Hand)

Bane is the God of Tyranny. The strong have the right, and indeed the duty, to rule over the weak. When a tyrant is able to seize power, they must do so, for not only do they tyrants win, but do do those under the tyrant. A weak leader has no right, and when they succumb to corruption or decadence or weakness, they will eventually be overthrown by a stronger more suitable ruler.   Despite being vilified in recent history, few of those who worship Bane do so out of malice, though some of those who have worshiped him have done some dreadful deeds. The priests of Bane would say that worshiping him is about ambition and strength. Praying to Bane for the courage, strength, and opportunity to carry out their ambition, and some people do have truly terrible ambitions. Those people often also have some of the strongest drives, and work ethics for said ambition. He favors those who have drive, ambition, and courage, and aids those with a plan. He helps strong leaders carve out domains from the untamed wilderness, and allows the strong to bring order to the lawless.   In many places, Bane has thrown down merciless raiders, and corrupt rulers, and saves noble armies on the brink of defeat. Bane has also supported vicious rulers, cruel dictators, mercenary rule, and brought slavery to parts where it is unknown. The concept of the strong ruling the weak if rarely a perfect good or a perfect evil.
