Artis Scientia Exchange

The Artis Scientia Exchange is held every year during the first of the month of Runus in the Carawand Monarchy in their capital city. This was once a sacred Wolvan tradition that involved displaying your craft to others to not only improve your social standing, but to get the chance of an apprenticeship. Now it's open to all races and as such is one of the greatest display of crafts in the known world.

When attending the Exchange

The event is run by the royal family in the Carawands in which they approve what can be displayed at the exchange. Art, science, food, and the like are common things that are presented. However, certain crafts such as necromancy are not normally allowed, as they wish visitors to be comfortable because the exchange also represents the Carawands. It's a display of power, so the more of a spectacle the exchange is, the more perceived power the Carawands possess.   When attending the exchange people wear a short cloak of the nation's colors. People who where a longer cloak tend to be presenting at the exchange instead of viewing. The local shops will usually host a presenter relating to their craft and make a stand outside their shop and sell some of their wares. These products usually are very cheap or even free. This is the time to advertise their works in hopes to bring in more customers. Presenters whoever do not need a sponsor to present. As long as you can fight a open space, you can present.   Little round candies are a favorite of the exchange. They are wrapped in colored paper and are the size of a marble. It's very sweet, fruity, and eaten by everyone at the exchange. The candy is prepared months in advance by the local shops and are only used for this event.   It's an all day event and starts in the morning with a speech from the royal family. Afterward the presentations beginning all over the capital city. This lasts till about four or five in the afternoon where the event begins to wrap up and a small speech from the royal family about their favorites from the exchange.

Other Notes

While this is the official event, smaller exchanges are held all over the world as long as their people to host it. In their cases the local culture might change different parts of it to fit their lives.

Components and tools

Cloaks are worn by early everyone during this event, if they are participating. Their small candies are also eaten as a tradition by many.
I attended one in Aulus which is very similar to the exchange. It was fun to see what people are creating if not getting free food from the bakers.
