The Adeptus Terra is the central governmental organization and umbrella of the various "Adepta" of the Imperium of Man . There are numerous ancient institutions that make up the Adeptus Terra, each with various names on various planets that each have a specific function to carry out in the Emperor's name. Reprentatives from the 12 most powerful Adepta form the High Lords of Terra composed of the following:

• Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes
• Lord High Admiral of the Imperial Navy
• Lord Commander Militant of the Astra Militarum

The High Council which serves the Master of Mankind is often referred to as "the right hand of the Emperor." It falls to the High Council to interpret the Emperor's will and minister to the Imperium. Many millions of souls labour across the galaxy to serve this vast organization.
In the current era, Roboute Guilliman has established himself as the Imperial Regent, taken control of the High Lords and begun to coordinate the Indomitus Crusade to reclaim lost worlds of the Imperium. A coup was attempted by High Lords who were replaced by Roboute Guilliman , but this was swiftly put down by combined Adeptus Custodes forces and members of the Imperial Fist Adeptus AstartesChapter.
