Androsta Prime

Androsta Prime is the capital of the Concordia Sub-Sector ruled by Planetary Governor Cario Mus and a massive hive world. It is home to 14.5 billion Imperial citizens between the various hives and the cities, towns and villages that inhabit the rest of the planet.
Each hive is a sprawling complex with extesive manufactora capablilites in the lower hives along with many Adeptus Administratum jobs, nobilitas spires housing thousands of the wealthiest citizens including Planetary Governor Cario Valerian Mus in the upper hives, and finally the underhives where the only law is a weapon and mutations run rampant. The air is so stagnant and polluted here, a normal baseline human will struggle to survive without the proper equipment. Outside the hive walls, miles of pipelines and wastelands exist forming a noticeable buffer zone for each hive compared to the rest of the planet.
Although the towering hives and the accompanying pollution layer are always visible on the horizons, outside the waste zones, the environment begins to return to normal including several large forests, a jungle zone, and several major species of vicious fauna who prey on the smaller villages and towns. Several of these species have shown some ability to problem solve, much to the concern of the Biologis divisions of the Adeptus Mechanicus

Landmarks

Hive Aranos

Hive Aranos was the first settlement on Androsta Prime and is now the capital of, not only the planet itself, but the sub-sector as a whole. Its primary function is the massive bureaucracy required to run a sub-sector, which has only grown in the wake of the Great Rift, now that Concordia is effectively cut off from the rest of the Imperium of Man. Hive Aranos also holds the Planetary Governor's Palace, the Astra Militarum High Command for the Sub-Sector, and the Admiralty of Battlefleet Euphorian of the Imperial Navy.

Hemlock Region

The Hemlock Region is a dense jungle and river basin located in the central part of Androsta Prime's main continent. It is sparsely populated with most of the towns crowded around the main river in the area. Contact with the towns and villages in the area is infrequent, with Astra Militarum patrols conducting periodic sweeps to ensure all is well.

Facility A9-579 is a Adeptus Mechanicus owned facility and should not be approached under any circumstances by the order of Fabricator General Cybrost .

History

Androsta Prime was brought into the Imperial fold in 003.M31 along with the rest of the Concordia Sub-Sector (See Concordia Sub-sector is Discovered and Conquered  ) The planet was sparsely populated and the native populace offered ineffective resistance to invading Ultramarine forces but refused to surrender and were entirely wiped out. An Imperial Expedition fleet arrived soon after with settlers from Ultramar and began to repopulate the planet.

Battle of the Storm Plains

During the Great Heresy, the Concordia Sub-sector remained largely loyal including Androsta Prime, likely due to its low population and high percentage of Ultramar ancestry. Androsta Prime would be a warzone until The Great Scouring  where a titanic battle between retreating Chaos forces and liberating Imperials decided the fate of the sub-sector.
Located in the Eastern portion of the primary continent, the Storm Plains would become the site of the final battle for the planet. It was well suited to Titan combat and armored advances. The chaos forces would throw their remaining troops at the advancing Imperials in a battle that would last for 7 weeks. Ultimately all Chaos forces were wiped out and 7 Heretic Titans would be destroyed along with 3 Titans from Legio Ipnos. It is estimated that 70,000 Astra Militarum troops were casualties along with 350 Adeptus Astartes.
The Storm Plains were reduced to little more than a burned out savannah. While plains grass and scrub have overgrown the area, the effects can still be seen, with large craters and over grown entrenchments for miles. Scavengers are always lurking in the region, searching for a big score or a key piece of technology from ages past. Travelers should beware lest they fall prey to these wandering bands or unexploded ordinance that has been left behind.

Astra Militarum Regiments

The factories of Androsta Prime's hives churn out large amounts of Chimera troop carriers and Leman Russ Tanks, allowing them to equip and maintain a large number of Mechanized Astra Militarum  regiments. Most of these are currently fighting in the two main warzones of the sub-sector, The Rift Warzone and the Argos Cluster. As with most of the rest of the galaxy, the sub-sector was caught off guard by the opening of the Great Rift, and the sector command has struggled to redeploy units from the Argos Cluster over to the Rift Warzone. To help, Androsta Prime is currently raising 3 more regiments for immediate deployment.
