Government

As a settlement for refugees, Goyonofu was supervised by the Kawa Republic’s Defensive Branch (KDB). While the KDB still holds supervision rights it works in conjunction with the Kawa Republic’s Research and Development Branch.   The current head of the town is Major General Mayne Townend, taking the role of Chief.

Defences

Numerous guard towers surround the perimeter of the town not to far from the semi-permanent, collapsible, wooden pillars, allowing for passage over the trenches that surrounds the city.

When all wooden pillars are standing upright they activate a Large Defensive Array surrounding the town’s edge – which was once a fortified no man’s land during turbulence and active sections for rehabilitation during peace.

The wall was originally built in two parts: a wall built around the original camp – now only an outline of the foundation's where it once stood – and the second part stretched out a little over three miles away from the original camp.

Industry & Trade

Export Trade is the heart of the Goyonofu’s economy and is one of the main locations that the Kawa Republic receives a number of its International Exports. With production of ready made products to processed herbs.   Seasonal Tourism is an occasional revenue driver with tours of the outer edges of the swamp. This includes boat rides on predetermined water pathways, depending on the desired experiences – anywhere from a romantic ride to a scenic experience to an educational tour. Visitors can also learn about numerous plants and herbs, collecting and processing them into basic travel items or personal creation of cuisine.

History

During Kawa’s Battle of Civic Neutrality many military, research, and production locations were abandoned, leaving potential settlements with buildings available for economic housing. This was the main reason that Kawa was able to quickly adapt to the influx of refugees, instead of joining the Virtuous-Sin War.

When need for the Camp Goyonofu was no longer necessary, the standing militia was relocated. From released records, Goyonofu was used as a rehabilitation center for wounded soldiers still on active duty. During the War outside its borders and the draining of resources due to the influx of refugees, there was a dire need for settlements to accommodate large numbers people.

As such a military base no longer in use but with a numerous amount of housing, pre-set defenses, and its vicinity to the Dhirn River, allowed for simple self-sufficiency on a short term basis. It made the ideal camp for both replenishing and defending weakened soldiers. As such it was simple to reform the old camp to a small town and later build upon it for expansion. As such its transformation from a military camp to river town with numerous exports of product gathered from the wetland's outer edge, is old news.

Architecture

Goyonofu has a tradition that dates back to the residence of the original refugees. Having lost their homes, many their families and friends, most struggling with the consequences of war – took to occupying their time.

While all the buildings in their new homes had the systematic structure common to military set-ups, the residents sought about embellishing their domiciles. Each refugee would take to decorating their new homes by painting the outer walls, adding extensions and decorations through wood / stone work, covering their walls with flora and fauna, and some even added visible magic charms.

All buildings had the same base, but gained character from their new owners. All descendants and new residents have taken up similar methods. When new buildings are created, they are made simple in form to accommodate this artistic tradition. And as residents grow and new ones settle, they also come to add their own signatures to preexisting buildings.

This act was was actually used by numerous refugee settlements, as propagated by the Kawa militia at the time in order to give a sense of control and belonging. It's a tradition seen throughout much of Kawa, referred to as 'A Kawan's [homely] touch.'
