Haze

A rather cutthroat kind of board/card game hybrid, with strategic portions thrown in, for between 2-8 people, and played mainly by hellionic volleys.   The premise of the game is to build a team based on the types of cards you have, and try and eliminate all the other players to be the last person standing. As the game is played it is customary for players to challenge, tease, and insult one another - generally in good spirits - as a way of throwing the other players off their game.   The categories within the game are based off of collective "species" - Hellionic, Morbidity, Choiric, God, Fae, and Humanity. Classes are fighters, strategists, chaotics, and powers. Each combination of class and species has different bonuses against others. Eg, A hellionic fighter overpowers a morbidity fighter, but the morbidity has a higher health bar.   The game is played in multiple rounds. The first section of a round is the team-building, where you can discard and draw new cards to assemble a team, and you organise which cards you want to play that round. This is often where the insulting comes into play. Once that section is finished, the players then offer the cards to the person on their left one at a time and compare which cards are up against which. The loser loses an amount of point dictated by the stats on the cards, and the person who was challenged then challenges the person on their left. This goes around until everyone has challenged and been challenged once.   The winner is found when there is only one person left.

History

Within history, Haze is a relatively new type of game, inspired by earthen board and card games that were developed in the 1900's onwards.   As the game ages, it evolves and new rules are constantly added and changed amongst groups who play it. It has now adopted a relatively modern style of play amongst most groups, and is the most common version to be passed onto new players.

Components and tools

The physical items needed for the are the cards, and small tokens to represent the health of the player. Some versions have adapted this to be souls, which then is used for gambling.   Tokens for health may be instead represented by writing down the numbers on a piece of paper.
