Decker Chamberlain
Lord Protector of Britannia, Earl of Devon | John David Chamberlain (a.k.a. Decker)
Famous for inaugurating an era of valour and chivalry, Decker Chamberlain established a warrior culture in Britannia that gave rise to the exploits of the Four Heroes and the eventual downfall of the Princes. Not well remembered for his tactical prowess, Decker was hailed for his strength of personality and gregarious charm. A natural leader, Chamberlain defended the Mortmare throne in uncertain days during the Dispute of Northern Succession and numerous lesser rebellions.

Personal history
Born into aristocratic privilege, Decker Chamberlain lived a charmed life. At a young age his tutor introduced him to the ancient knightly orders of the Precursor Middle Ages. Seeing the similarities between his own world and theirs, he sought to emulate the ancient military traditions of knighthood.
When he was elevated through political favour to the title of Lord Protector of the Britannian Wargang, Decker founded a new Order of the Garter, a society of warriors that drew the interest of all Britannian fighting men.
The Knights of the Garter wore the blue cord of honour into all the various conflicts of the ensuing years, including the Harley Rebellion, the Traitor Parliament, and the Dispute of Northern Succession.
Decker Chamberlain died at the Battle of Somerset, an encounter in which the victorious Britannian forces repelled a Capetian invasion led by Marshall Pierre Centsol (né Olivoix). Popular legend has it that the Lord Protector died trying to save Pierre from an ambush laid by traitors within the Capetian commander's own ranks.
