Goland Revize is the nearest thing to a god that has ever walked the earth. Bestowed of unparalleled psychokinetic power, Revize fears no man or nation. His empire is an extension of his own personal will to power and he wields it without hesitation to further the salvific millennial aims of the Phoenix Order.

Some believe Goland Revize to be the first of his kind, the first psionically Awakened human being. If rumours about Revize's age are to be believed, that may very well be true. Conservative estimates taken from reference to the historical record suggest that Trevize is at least two centuries old. His covert status as a member of the Hidden Princes makes this difficult to verify, however.

Goland Revize's goals and beliefs can only be gleaned from Phoenix Order doctrine. According to the Phoenix Creed, the Awakened represent a new stage in human evolution. They refer to themselves as Homo Suscitatus, "Awakened Man," and seek a world in which all humanity has risen up to join their higher state of being. Goland Revize offers up this utopian dream as a way to absolute human freedom, beyond family, race, religion, or nation, a new human idea born from the ashes of Homo Sapien, like a phoenix reborn.

Increasingly, the means Revize and his order employed to achieve these utopian ends shocked the human conscience. The figurative "flames" of the Phoenix Order's yearned for rebirth have been literalized in the Golden Empire's flames of war. There was much blood on Goland Revize's hands that had to be atoned for. But who can challenge a man who wields such inhuman power?

Personal history

The end of Goland Revize began during a gladiatorial exhibition in the Revisan Ampitheater. William Marshall's invocation of the Horned God incapacitated the emperor and allowed Salvor and the other captive PCs the opportunity to escape the arena and organize a plan to decapitate the Phoenix Order leadership. Their efforts were complicated by an impenetrable sphere of psychokinetic force conjured by Revize's subconscious mind surrounding Rome as an emergency response measure. In order to defeat the shield and enable their reinforcements to enter the city and help overthrow the Golden Empire, the PCs had to release the instinctive compulsion of Revize's subconscious mind. To do this, the party had to enter Revize's unconscious dream state and recover a series of thought-form artifacts. This was to be done by passing through fixed portals located throughout the city. These portals and their associated artifacts represented elements of the Emperor's psyche. By gathering these artifacts, the PCs were essentially deconstructing Revize's identity. This act would have unforeseen consequences just as interacting with Revize's dream constructs would lead to unexpected revelations.
