Seven Sentinels of Urzen

Band of adventurers who roamed the earth during the last of the Road Wars

When the desert horde invaded from the Great Western Badland, Yves Olivoix and his Sentinels commanded the Skylander vanguard. Olivoix rode a roaring 12-cylinder out of Ashville and burned the sky black with exhaust. The sentinels had come out of the jungles of the Forbidden Zone bearing mighty weapons and tech taken from the ruins of the Urzen Empire. The Memphis Firekeepers called Olivoix's band the "Star Seekers," because they bore symbols of stars on their armour and vehicles. Olivoix himself carried a gleaming brand called the Sword of Seven Stars and used it to defeat the Champion of the Wasteland in single combat.

The early centuries of Renewal may have marked a miraculous time of Renaissance for human civilization, but it also witnessed the rise of craven marauders and petty warlords who sought to use violence to steal the hard-won virtues of culture and technology. In such a time of war and deprivation seven heroes rose to defend the fledgling flame of humanity. Led by a road warrior named Yves Olivoix, the Seven Sentinels traveled the world in search of Precursor relics. They shared their discoveries with the scattered pockets of human civilization, survivors of the Poisoned Earth who shared their spirit of goodwill and hope for the eventual restoration of humanity.

The Seven Sentinels all held a common oath, spoken as an invocation of their singular purpose and belief in the coming dawn of a renewed civilization:
And in the morning promise me great times will come again,
And the homelands in our hearts will never fade away.
Let the legends promise me the earth shall rise again,
And homelands in the hearts of men shall never fade away.
The Book of Leaves, The Wanderer

This oath is the final verse written in "The Last Leaf" of The Book of Leaves. Yves Olivoix kept a manuscript of this precious codex in his dashboard box at all times and is said to have quoted from it extensively.

History

Founded at Lake Lucerne in the Long Winter of 410 PCE, the Seven Sentinels swore a pact to be "defenders of the road and saviours of the survivors." They quelled the Hordesmen of the Cabal and are said to have helped establish the Lucerne Power Station, a Visitor-constructed installation that was instrumental in bringing an end to the Poisoned Sea and Sky in Europa.

Afterwards, the Sentinels turned their attention to the West. Following rumours heard about Precursor empires that survived the Cataclysm, the Sentinels ventured across the Atlantic Ocean to the homelands of the Cabal Horde. They then assembled a meeting of tribes at the site of the Georgia Guidestones, cryptic granite megaliths left behind by the Precursors. Following this assembly the Sentinels began a journey further west into the lands of Orad and Urzen in search of Precursor lore and relics.

Olivoix and the Sentinels returned from the Zone just as the Badland Vril had begun their invasion of Skyland from the Great Midwestern Wasteland. Olivoix and his Sentinels united the Skyland Assembly, including remnants of the Cabal horde, and rode out to meet the invaders in the foothills of Larada. At the Battle of Memphis, Olivoix led the Skylanders to victory and drove the Vril back into the Wasteland.

After this great victory, the Sentinels returned to Europa and made plans to begin a world-spanning quest to uncover the seven Safe Earth Areas.
