Overview
King Gregoras Zabal III, in his infinite wisdom, after the thief of an ancient tome of great value, decided that their needed to be a safer place to hold all the knowledge of the land. He decided that he would commission the building of a Great Library. As soon as his nobles heard of this commission, they all wanted the library to be placed in their city. This started an epic food battle at the dinner that King Gregoras Zabal III held to announce his decision. This royally pissed him off.
King Gregoras Zabal III sat and thought, and thought, and thought. It took him awhile to figure out what to do, but then a radical idea came to him. He would hold an epic battle. Each city would have a set of ten champions that would meet at
Blackgriffin Tower. There they would have to race to the top of the Tower, fighting the creatures that live in the Tower and each other. They would also have to find all the treasure rumor to be hidden inside the Blackgriffin Tower. The first city's champions to reach the top of the Tower alive and make it back with the treasure to King Gregoras Zabal III would win the right to host the Great Library in their city forevermore.
On the day before the Battle for the Great Library, the champions and the nobles of all six cities:
Summerset,
Winterborn,
Ashkeep,
Shadowhall,
Wyldgate, and
Pinebridge showed up at the King's Hall in
Crystalfield. On the morning of the battle the champions and their nobles, plus the King and his entourage, all trouped over to the Tower and set up camp outside the Tower. The champions lined up in the field and the King's Trumpeter sounded the call to battle.
This led to a full out battle between all the champions right there on the field. No one headed towards the Tower. Each set of champions battled one another until one was victorious. The set of champions from Winterborn was the only set to have any champion left standing. They had four warrior and one healer still left standing. The party of five gathered their down comrades and took them to the healers. Then, they gathered their supplies and headed for the Tower. It took them a day and a half to clear a way to the top of the Tower and wave their banner. It took them another half a day to make their way back down. Each came out of the Tower with a sack of coins and jewels. The last warrior was carrying the head of a Minotaur.
There was much rejoicing. King Gregoras Zabal III built the
Great Library at Winterborn.
