Watch Chief
The Watch Chief is the most important law person in town. They control who patrols the streets, what areas get patrolled the most, and what crimes get solved the quickest.
Under the Watch Chief is the Captain, Lieuteniant, Sergeant, Commander, Detective, and Watchmen.
Qualifications
A Watch Chief must rise through the ranks of the City Watch.
Requirements
A Watch Chief must be at least double the age of adulthood for his/her/zir race.
Appointment
The is a ceremony where the prior watch chief passes on the mantle to the new watch chief. If the prior watch chief is not available, then the ruling towns person (Mayor, Head Council Member) will bestow the mantle instead.
Duties
The Watch Chief oversees all operations of the City Watch.
Responsibilities
They are responsible for staffing, budgeting, safety of their staff and their community. They are the public face of the City Watch.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Mantle of the Watch Chief is a purple sash that is worn across the chest, from one shoulder to the opposite hip. On the sash is a copper medal with the seal of Alverton.
The Sword of the Watch Chief is ceremonial as it is not made for fighting. It is made of copper and is to old and to soft to use as a real weapon. It stays in a glass case in the Watch Chief's office except during special ceremonies or occasions.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Democracies
The Mayor or Town Council would have to call for a city wide vote. There would have to be a 4/5 majority agreement in the voting for the Watch Chief to be dismissed.
Monarchies & Dictatorships
The rulers decide who and when someone should be Watch Chief. They can change their minds at any time.
