Folie D'un
Gideon Hask hasn't been himself. Usually, he's loose and laid back; humorous and jovial. But since the Dreamers mission - since Seyn's death - he's changed drastically. He's not so solemn, but he is... strange. No one can quite put their finger on what exactly is going on with him. He's been erratic, emotions changing usually for the worst. Can his fellow Squad members identify the problem before its too late?
Themes
Ignoring the problem never fixes what's wrong, it only makes it worse.
Structure
Exposition
On the Corvus, Gideon Hask has taken watch shift, staying up in the ‘night’ to monitor anything that could possibly go wrong. He’s still in mourning after Seyn Marana’s death and struggling to come to terms with what he did to the Dreamers in his anger and grief. He’d gone against orders, instead following his anger.
Conflict
He receives a call from Admiral Garrick Versio, who bids him fetch the two remaining members of Inferno Squad. There’s a mission for them: to deal with King Callum of Inelia, who’s drawing forces from each planet in the Vulloise System and their neighboring systems in an attempt to distance themselves from the Empire. There’s a threat in it: the Vulloise System is where one of the largest Imperial Academies resides.
It’s up to Inferno Squad to bring the king in to receive the Emperor’s justice.
