Star-Metal, A Gift From the Gods
One night, as Kerg Venzelhorn was walking the streets of Silvaros, a small mine-town towards the northern reaches of Interitus, when all of a sudden, a glob of strange, clear metal struck him in the side of the head. Confused, Kerg reached down the for the chunk of metal, only to discover it was entirely weightless. He raised it up to the sky, seeing himself alone in the streets, and proclaimed a name, Star-Metal, because it of course fell from the sky.
From this day on, a new metal was founded within the world of Interitus. Star-metal, the gift of heroes. It forged weapons of no equal, a strange innate magic infused into the material itself, it seemed, that would grow alongside the wielder. It was never explained, and never questioned, where this metal came from, or what gave it the strange properties, until the mining city of Silvaros was taken over by the Guild of the Broken Masques.
From here, no longer was star metal a precious commodity that fell from the sky, instead, it was a material to be harvested, no matter the cost. So a new ordinance went out, straight from the Capital, that the mines of Silvaros were to be expunged of all star-metal. And so it began, a life-long march into the mines, digging out at the rocks, ignoring both gold and jewels alike, none of it mattered. All that mattered, was the star-metal.
Until the faceless overseer, a servitor sent by the Guil of Broken Masques, found his face melting off into his hands on his daily trip through the mines. A ancient, unspeakable voice boomed out, a warning to all who would ever again enter the mines. Star-metal was not meant for them.
And it worked, to a point. No longer were the mines harvested for this strange metal, and in fact the metal itself was mostly forgotten. Family heirlooms and little more by this point. Forgotten, except by those old enough, and powerful enough to recall the weapons carved from the literal essence of the gods themselves.
