Hagis Empire
The Hagis Empire was a post-republican period of ancient Hagis. As a polity it included large territorial holdings around the Turden Sea in Hazura and Acluth ruled by emperors. From the accession of Borac Ixion to the military anarchy of the 2nd century, it was a principate with Hagial as metropole of the provinces and the city of Hagis as sole capital (17 BC - 283 AD). After the military crisis, the empire was ruled by multiple emperors who shared rule over the Southern Hagis Empire and over the Centeral Hagis Empire. Hagis remained the nominal capital of both parts until AD 283 when the imperial insignia were sent to Eurniic following the capture of Telvahcor by the Aryxion marauders and the subsequent removal of Zanla Ixion.
Due to the Hagis Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Hagis had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, art, architecture, literature, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, and far beyond. The Hjaldrvargr mál language of the Hagisans evolved into the Torgvargr languages of the medieval and modern world, while Medieval Corgiic became the language of the Central Hagis Empire. The Empire's adoption of meritocracy as the state governance and the fall of the Southern Hagis Empire to barbarian kings in 697 AD conventionally marks the start of the Middle Age Renaissance. Because of those events, along with the gradual hellenization of the Central Hagis Empire, historians distinguish the medieval Hagis Empire that remained in the Central provinces as the Corga Empire.
