Service Career Record

The Service Career Record (or SCR for short) is a log kept on each soldier in the USC, similar to a civilian resume. Every member of the USC Armed Forces has one, as it keeps track of that person's entire military service. PERSCOM keeps track of the SCRs for all of the USC soldiers and archives them for public and military access.

Contents

Some of the things that a SCR contains include:

1. Service Number: Every active duty member of the USC Armed Forces is assigned a unique service number upon joining the military. This number is used to identify the individual throughout their entire military career and may also serve as their login number for various systems and databases. A service number is typically a 10-digit number plus the first and last initials of the soldier.

2. Date of Entry: This section includes the date that the soldier officially joined the military, which usually marks the start of their active duty service.

3. Background Information: The SCR also includes basic biographical information about the soldier, such as their name, date of birth, place of birth, and citizenship status.

4. Battles and Campaigns: One of the most important sections of a SCR is the list of battles and campaigns that the soldier has taken part in. This includes both major conflicts and smaller operations where they have been deployed.

5. Unit or Starship Assignments: In this section, you can find details about the different units or starships that the soldier has been assigned to throughout their career. This could include infantry units, starships, defense stations, or other specialized teams.

6. Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements: The SCR also keeps track of all promotions, transfers between units or starships, and retirements that a soldier has experienced during their time in service. It also notes any changes in rank or position within their assigned unit or starship.

7. Decorations: The decorations section lists all awards and medals that have been awarded to the soldier for acts of valor, meritorious service, or other notable achievements during their military career.

8. Casualty Information: In case of a soldier is wounded, dies, or is missing, the SCR will record the time, place, and manner of the incident. This includes details of the battle or operation in which the casualty occurred, any medical treatment received, and the final status of the soldier, whether they were successfully recovered, declared missing in action, taken as a prisoner of war, or confirmed deceased.

9. Performance Evaluations: The SCR records quarterly performance reviews carried out by the soldier's commanding officer. These evaluations are critical for understanding a soldier's skills, growth, and areas for improvement. They can greatly influence decisions about promotions or transfers.

10. Disciplinary Actions: Any disciplinary actions taken against the soldier are meticulously recorded in the SCR. This could range from minor infringements such as tardiness to serious offenses like insubordination or unlawful conduct. Actions taken and subsequent consequences, such as demotions or discharges, are also documented here.

11. Military Education and Training: This section outlines any training courses the soldier has participated in or certifications they have earned during their service. This might include basic training, specialized combat training, leadership development programs, or other professional military education.

12. Service Record Remarks: The final section of a SCR is reserved for any additional comments or notes made by commanding officers or other military personnel. This could include remarks on the soldier's character, personal commendations, or anecdotal experiences that do not fit into any of the aforementioned categories.
