Survivor Madness
Causes
Survivor Madness is caused by mental shock following the death of a Martian's clutch mates. Martians are highly social people who from tight family units from their clutch siblings. Due to such heavy reliance on sibling bonds, instances of entire clutches dying except for one member cause a significant amount of mental stress. Most individuals eventually recover however, some individuals suffer a mental break due to grief and loss of family ties.
Symptoms
Individuals who suffer from Survivor Madness exhibit erratic behavior, heightened aggression, inhibited mental capacity, and numbness to pain.
Treatment
There is no cure for this condition. It is possible for affected Martians to recover if they are able to reform family ties but it is very rare for affected individuals to recover.
Prognosis
Survivor Madness often results in the death of the individual. While the affliction itself is not deadly, the Martian often presents a significant threat to themselves and others. It is nearly impossible to subdue a fully grown adult Martian when in what is effectively a berserker rage.
