Structure

The government of the Republic is run by en elected Doge (Duke). He is elected by a council of patrician families of the Republic to serve for life. He has control of the finances of the country, but actions regarding foreign policy, new laws, etc, must be approved by the council prior to implementation.

Public Agenda

Profit; the primary goal of the Republic is to amass wealth and increase their influence around the world. Land holdings are only valuable if they further the end goal of profitability.

Assets

Large fleet of trade and military vessels. Numerous island holdings and trading posts across Zernoth. They have preferential trading privilege in the Empire of Norica and Mount Athos. Numerous mines are owned by their foreign trading companies, even if the work is done by Noricans.

History

The Repubic of Veneto was founded following the War of Reunification. Malorn's followers took to the sea with the blessing of their newly empowered god. Their primary focus being the acquisition of power through wealth and trade. Their empire has slowly expanded like otherworldly tentacles creeping into the coastal regions of the world.
Despite occasional conflicts with their large neighbor the Empire of Norica, the Empire relies on Veneto in order to keep maritime trade flowing and for the movement of goods across the empire as well as funding for various projects and constructions that have been undertaken.
