Creation of the Material Plane, including the world of Everland
The dragons are the first sentient species to arrive in Everland, finding a pristine world, prime for settlement. The abundance of food and the agreeable climate made it a popular place for dragons to create their lairs, despite a lack of opportunities for treasure.
The unstoppable spread of the Kuigon Empire brings them at last to Everland. As the only occupants of the land were dragons, the Kuigon quickly settle most of the world, establishing great cities on the coasts.
As the Kuigon Empire grew more powerful, servants were brought into Everland to fulfil the labour tasks needed. In small numbers at first, but ever-increasing with settlements of their own springing up.
A group of elves escape from their Kuigon masters, founding Umyebel. Starting small, they occupied a small inland region of Everland and manage to create and sustain a working nation, hidden from the Kuigon Empire, using magics learnt from sympathetic dragons.
The orcs arrive in small numbers and in secret. Constantly on the move to evade Kuigon hunters, orcs hide out in its geographical vastness.
Much like the arrival of the orcs, humans arrive on Everland in small numbers. Although their numbers are limited by the need to remain hidden from the Kuigon who dominate the coasts and more fertile lands, small human settlements of all ethnicities quickly spring up across Everland.
With the fall of the Kuigon, the Umyebelians are the first to realise the potential and, with the help of the metallic dragons who originally helped them, quickly expand from their original territory. With the Kuigon gone, their cities become prime building material for the elves and within 500 years of the Kuigon's defeat by the gods, the Umyebelian Empire covers most of Everland.
Exploring their underground territories, the dwarves finally arrive in Everland through a Portal. Finding unoccupied mountain ranges ripe for settlement, they quickly establish their own civilisations in the mountains and quickly come into contact with the Umyebelian Empire. Initial contact is not friendly, and the two endeavour to avoid each other from that point.
The Quenian Elves of the Umyebelian Empire begin their slow withdrawal from most of Everland. A number of causes precipitate this, but the main reason is apathy by the majority of the elven population. Magic has removed the need for labour, and the Quenians have little interest in fighting battles against encroaching human and orc settlements. They retreat to their heartlands, leaving ruined cities in their wake, stripped of almost anything of importance.
The Great Dwarf war, conducted across dozens of Planes, but largely unknown to non-dwarves, finally reaches a conclusion with the multi-planar dwarven empire disintegrating into separate protectorates. In Everland, three are formed, and continue to view each other with suspicion almost two thousand years later.
