Crazy Jack is a Paratiel living aboard a starship as that ship's mascot. He is of the Sagittarius Invert breed, and spends his days hanging upside down on his perch. He is an elderly bird, holding the record for longevity for his species at over 140 standard years old, and is still going strong.
