The Adventures Guild

"The only thing more dangerous than a veteran guild-trained adventurer is a guild administrator."-Dan the Deathless

Current

Most major cities now have an adventures guild branch in them. However, the size can change drastically between locations. Most branches are small, with only a few adventures constantly in the area. A larger Branch manages these, normally in a major city, called Regional Branches. The largest site is the Guild HQ in the LHC. It functions as the administrator for the regional branches as well as being home to the original school. Most regional branches offer training grounds as well as staff that can educate those interested for a price.

History

The Adventures Guild started in (unsurprisingly) the Legendary Hero's Coalition. It was initially founded as the School of Adventuring to teach potential adventures not to die by stabbing themselves with their own swords. After having a graduate join the coalition ranks, the school gained national funding and started creating branch schools. The school also started improving its teaching, including using local quests to give real experience to students.
The result of this is that many people came to want the services of the schools more than what was offered during teaching. Because of this, the schools started offering permanent positions for graduated students. This eventually evolved into the structured system used today. As time passed, more requests were made than the school graduates that decided to say could handle. Thus started the integration of non-school taught adventurers. Eventually, the school became a minor part of the whole, and the newly named guild of adventures became the leading provider of adventurers at all skill levels.

Organization

In an attempt to stop adventures from getting themselves killed, the Adventurers Guild instituted a tier system based on individuals' abilities. When a new quest is made, its difficulty is determined and posted.

To quickly show a rank, adventures are given a badge of their rank material. The badge is a basic magic item that is bound to a twin in a guildhall. If the badge leaves the range of the owner or dies, both badges break. This allows the guild to see if something terrible has befallen those on adventures.
