Lars Sik

The voice of God

Riox, the mighty god who will save us all! We must honor and praise him with unwavering devotion. His power is our salvation!
— Lars Sik

Lars Sik is the creator and leader of the Church of the Hidden One, dedicated to the god Riox. He is a friendly and charismatic person that believes that Riox is the allmighty god that will save them all from the dead and chaos.

Appareance

Lars Sik is an old Zetoni of brown hair with splashes of gray. His smooth shiny hair has become coarse and matted as he aged. His tail, once his pride because of its smoothness and straightness, hasn't been properly brushed in a long time and is now knotted locks; his beard and crest had the same fate. His horn has two branches, one of them broken years ago and the other one barely grew longer than a few centimetres. One of his icy bllue eyes has a scar over it, thankfully it didn't affect his sight, but broke one of the growths on top of his eyes.

He's often seen with his wooden staff, which he uses as walking stick to help with the limp he has on the frontal left leg. His clothes are simple, often showing warm dull colours with accents of greens or browns. He often has near himself a polished rock, which he claims to be a piece of Riox, given to him to spread his word; a smaller version of this rock is a piercing he has on his left ear.

History

Before Riox

Lars is from a family of scholars and was raised while travelling with his parents across all the research places they worked at. He learnt everything from his parents and his parents' coworkers, and it made him be a curious yet careful person who easily learnt to read people and be on their nice side.

Because of assimilation, he started working as researcher with his parents as he grew up old enough to work, and while he never had any formal education, he was always accepted to work with his parents, albeit he was mostly left to organise, clean up, and record things.

Riox's appareance

Lars and his family were in Igburn when Riox appeared, researching about what caused the old town to collapse. His parents and half the people in the camp had fallen sick of an unknown illness and Lars was spending his days taking care of everyone while trying to stay healthy and prayed to every god he had read about when Riox appeared.

One day, overnight, the sick were miraculously healthy, as if there had been no illness, and it was then when everyone saw Riox in the sky. Everyone else on the camp paid no attention to the casuality of the sickness ending as the dot in the sky appeared, but Lars... Lars was bewitched by it.

Over the following months, Lars kept hearing more and more miraculous events that occurred with the apparition of Riox, and, without realizing, he started praying and having faith in it.

He left his parents and started travelling with groups of people who were also mesmerized by Riox and all followed Lars' words about Riox. In a couple years, he was travelling with a fairly big group of people who all were praising Riox and realized he had started a religion around it.

New religion

Creating a new religion on accident was a surprise to Lars, but he quickly took reigns of it and stablished a religion that is nowadays one of the most spread across Branul nowadays.

One time, while travelling with his group and spreading Riox's belief, his group ended up angrying a whole town, which, while kicking the group out the town, ended up killing one of his followers and leaving him half dead and running lost in a forest.

While lost and wounded in the forest, he encountered an injured Icno, a creature believed to have blood that heals everything, and in an act of desesperation, he killed the beast and drank it's blood.

The following morning, he managed to leave the forest and after a couple of days travelling, he was reunited with his group, who were ecstatic of seeing him alive. Lars claimed that, while running across the forest, he felt Riox's touch heal him and whispered to him some rules his church had to follow.

A year later, he managed to obtain a building in Kinduar as the religion's main church and in there he made all plans for his new church. After moving to the building, he mostly stayed in the city and left misionary work for his followers.

Relationships

Wife

Lars meet his wife while preaching around Branul about Riox. It was love at first sight and she travelled with Lars for a year, in which she got pregnant and had their child, Brent.

After the Church found a permanent building in Kinduar, Lars and his wife started arguing, mostly about Lars' health as it declined from overworking, and she left before their child was even a year old. He never knew anything else about her and never had another partner.

Son

Bernt was born in Lars' religion. He's always been loved in the organization and everyone took care of him. He grew feeling he was the center of the world. Lars found himself sometimes too busy to act as parent, but he trusted in his organization and tried to spent every free time he had with Bernt.

To compensate the lack of attention to his son, he tried his best to do what his son asked him. As Bernt grew up, Lars was pleased to see that he wanted to keep being part of the religion.

Church

Lars gave everything for the Church of the Hidden One and it became the center of his life. He created it and raised it to become from a hundred-people cult to a thousands-people religion. Lately, he's been forced to take a more secondary job in the organization as he gets older and getting worse health problems from overworking himself. He does not enjoy to be put "aside" but is using that to recover lost time with his son.

Riox's Avatar

He refuses that the stories about Riox's avatar are true. If they where truth, it would cause people to realize some of the lies he'd told to make the religion and it would cause problems around the organization to the point of disbandment or needing to change drastically. Depending on the stories told about this so-called "Avatar", Lars gives a denial reason or another, claiming from lies of enemies of the religion to dying people's illusions.

Parents

Lars loved his parents, and loved travelling with them and meeting new researchers and scientifics that worked with them. But his parents despised what he did with this "religion" of his and have been ignoring him and cut him off their lifes. Lars was heartbroken and for many years tried to contact them and find them, always led to nothing and stopped for sometime. When his son was born, he tried to find them again, but all he got was news of his parent's death.

Oooo there's deception here. I wonder how people would react if they found out he took icno's blood to survive (and murdered the icno).

They wouldn't be very happy if they knew, but who is even going to tell that? Lars so he can be hated? No one else knows about it
