Drazar Drake Patrol

The Drazar empire originally founded the Drake Patrol as a border patrol. They protected the parts of borders where the front was not currently active. The patrol was formed by lower-ranking drake masters from one of the three frontline units that had already served their time in the military but did not want to retire. After Drazar conquered most of the continent the patrol moved from borders to generally patrolling roads between settlements within the empire.
The patrol seemed to be destroyed along with the empire but a few years after the fall the surviving members reemerged and reformed the patrol. They patrol lands that used to be controlled by Drazar to guard any surviving ruins and artifacts to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands so nobody can repeat the mistakes of the empire.

Composition

Weaponry

The main and strongest weapon for each member is their companion drake. During the time of the empire, it was common for members to command multiple drakes but it also was not a case of companionship but rather a servant-and-master relationship. At this time the human combatants also rarely engage in actual combat and the drakes did most of the fighting. Due to this the weaponry of members was not unified. This has changed after the patrol was reformed and today standard equipment consists of spear and longbow.

Tactics

The younger members whose drakes have not yet grown to a size necessary to be ridden serve as infantry and guards of the ruins. They are usually stationary at specific locations of importance to stop anybody who tries to attack them. The older members that can ride their drakes serve as cavalry. They move in small groups between these locations and try to locate other important places. When the infantry encounters the enemy they hold them engaged in combat at one place until the nearest group of cavalry arrives. Depending on the situation the cavalry either serve as a shock cavalry and charge the enemy for hammer and anvil tactics or use their bows to harass enemy from distance as skirmishing unit.
