Orinan's music box
This music box was owned by legendary half-elven swordman Orinan Celent. It was created by his mother to help him in his training during his youth. The melody this box played supposedly allowed Orinan to enter a trance that increased both his concentration and physical abilities. Thanks to this he was allegedly able to achieve mastery in swordsmanship never seen before. Orinan eventually died trying to protect his home kingdom from disaster. However, his home was destroyed not long after his death by an unknown disaster, and his story was regarded only as a fable surviving in the oral tradition of the survivors.
This changed some twenty years ago when a tomb was discovered during the excavation of some ruins. This tomb was proven to belong to Orinan Celent. Along with several historical frescos detailing his life the tomb also contained his sword and the music box. However, the music box was internally damaged and did not show any signs of being magical unlike the sword, and was considered to be only a trinket. For a few years, nobody paid any attention to it until a student found it while going through the excavation findings. She fixed the internal damage and after turning it on the music box started essentially spewing out magic. After this, a lot of research was done on this item. Unfortunately, the research did not lead to almost any results. The box seems to be unaffected by identification magic and even though several swordsmen tried to reach the trance state none succeeded. There were also a few attempts to recreate the melody but for some reason, it never sounded right.
