Sanctuary of Enlighten

Sanctuary of Enlighten is one of the few sacred sites in the Oskos wilds. The sanctuary is dedicated to Omdros as it is where he supposedly achieved enlightenment. The sanctuary itself is a larger circular garden with an ancient tree in the middle and surrounded by a high overgrown wooden fence. Among the inhabitants of the wilds, this site is considered a safe refuge and the last haven when the world will eventually face its end.

Purpose / Function

The sanctuary is a haven in the wilds. During the divine age, the garden was the main residence of Omdros. It was a pilgrimage place for mortals seeking enlightenment or guidance from Omdros. After the end of the divine age when the gods left the sanctuary was abandoned for a while. However, eventually, it became a sort of resting place for old inhabitants of the wilds. Anybody who considers themself too old to keep the nomadic way of life in the wilds can retreat here to peacefully live the rest of their life. The site once again became the place for those who seek enlightenment after the end of divine silence. However, it remains a place for older inhabitants to rest.
There is one more purpose for the sanctuary. If the Oskos ever face destruction the inhabitants can retreat to the sanctuary. The gods will then sacrifice their power to create barriers and protect their people so the mortals of wilds have chance of survival.

History

Omdros originally achieved enlightenment under the central tree of the sanctuary. The site surrounding this tree quickly became sacred to his followers. After the events of Peace between gods, Omdros and his followers returned to this site to make it their primary residence. During this time the area was fenced off from the rest of the wilds making it a safe place. The sanctuary became briefly abandoned during the divine silence. It eventually became place of rest for elderly inhabitants of the wilds.
