Bludchieftan (blood chief)
The Bludchieftan of Doranos is the highest title any individual may hold. They are often the strongest and most accomplished of the chieftans of the clans but in theory anyone from Doranos may claim the position if they meet the criteria for the seat. The Bludchief is the head of state and responsible for the well being of the entire nation, and in recent times, the Federation.
Qualifications
In order to claim the Lunar Rites an individual can be a chieftain of one of the clans of Doranos but is not required. Additionally, an individual typically is from the Lycan or Druid species as their supernatural abilities help them to pass the Lunar Rites with less fear of death.
Requirements
Must be a born citizen of Doranos and adhere to the ancient Lunar Rites to claim the position.
Appointment
The Lunar Rites are a series of trials that involve a weighing of previously earned merits followed by tests of physical, mental, and spiritual standing.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Bludchief has two items related to the office, the first is the blood crown, the status symbol of nobility borrowed from other nations, and the Greataxe of the first Bludchief
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The only way that the title can be claimed is if the seat is not filled due to the previous' death or retirement or if the clans pass a majority vote of no confidence. If a vote of no confidence is passed the current Bludchief can choose to participate in the Lunar Rites again if they wish to defend their seat.
History
At the first uniting of the Drovan clans to face outside threats Balder and Ndet of the two largest clans, the Hund and Were, united their previously warring tribes to drive out the ancient invaders. They where successful in driving out their enemies and under Balder's leadership they led the first excursion outside of the forests of Drov. Claiming the title of Bludchieftan Balder took many great warriors deep into their neighbors territories at the eventual cost of his life, but ensured that it would be centuries before another would come to the Drovan forest with ill intent. His former enemy and later wife, Ndet, would then claim the title and lead the first known era of peace between the tribes for several decades before rejoining her husband in the afterlife.
