Dark One Harkon

Harkon became master of a vampire court when he became the Dark One. His father created the Vampires and Harkon inherited them and ruled over them during his time as Dark One.

(a.k.a. Dark Seer)

It is a cruel fate that befell Harkon. He was a Naga(part snake part human) his body looked all but human but with green scales mixed in with his skin. In his later years he became famous for his long white beard. Son of a Dark One he had made it his life’s ambition to destroy the darkness permanently, not to simply pass it on, yet his quest proved impossible and he was forced to take up what was once his father’s mantle. Harkon to this day is the oldest Dark One to ever live, with the longest reign to boot. He was born in 1010 of the Harsh Age and died in 2003 of the Golden age, making him 993 when he died. The majority of those years being the Dark One, yet Harkon’s magical career started before that. Harkon jumped into magic when first trying to bring back his dead mother, when he failed to do so he began using it to try and stop his father, but he did so much good with it. It was Harkon that crafted the poison that Jack The Giant Slayer used to slay giants. He healed the sick and wounded, all from his home he built inside a large tree sat atop a hill on a leaf covered coast. The tree reached high into the clouds and its roots ran deep into the heart of the earth. The leaves danced with life around his tree.   Harkon was a hero, destined to do good. That is why when the fall of men was inevitable he stepped up to stop it, at the cost of becoming the Dark One. After taking the power he went to great lengths to restrain himself and hold back. For the three first years of his reign he used no magic whatsoever, yet that did not quell the fears of smaller men. Lexius had shown the world what the Dark One could do and they rebelled. The Magic Trials were the burning of human males thought to be mages that lasted for several years, it is Harkon’s fault that it was men persecuted.   Harkon eventually gave into his power when the vampires his father created grew more ambitious, Harkon stepped up as the lord of their court to stop them from trying anything too bold. It is told he performed heinous and sacrilegious experiments on the living and dead alike in the name of science. He also made several powerful magical objects, these objects are now referred to as the Power Nine, and are sought out by collectors and historians alike. It is widely believed that Harkon is the one responsible for the magical wall that separated Tir Orail and The Vale for so many years. While the humans never found the wall, the Elven Empire ran into it when trying to expand, and it stopped them until 2003, the same year Harkon died.   Out of all the Dark Ones, Harkon may have been the most tame, and was certainly the most well intentioned. But after so many years alive he grew tired, and so through an extensive grooming process said to have taken 200 or more years, he found someone he deemed worthy to hold the darkness and who he gave the Dark Ring up to willingly, finally allowing him to die.
