Ger Hold
Ger Hold is one of the four Black Dagger fortresses in The Vale. When it was built the castle was known as Castle Grey; it was renamed after the famous Black Dagger Germand. The fortress is nestled into the side of Snake Mountain(the mountain border between The Vale and the Desert. When it comes time for the Daggers to winter few choose Ger Hold as it gets snowed on a fair amount.
The fortress is the simplest of its brethren in construction but it has stood the test of time well. In the Snake War is was taken over by the Dhulka who put great effort into preserving it so that they could use it in future attacks. The Daggers of Ger Hold most often work in Furt and the Desert.
The fortress was just as Canaan remembered it, but with more damage. Some of the stones on the outer wall were cracking and even after all these years the gate still had not been fixed. As he rode into the snow covered courtyard he looked around, but no one was there...He stopped at the giant tree stump in the middle of the yard, its roots poking out of the ground. "God this stump. I nearly busted my head open training on this thing," he thought to himself. He sighed and approached the great stone keep embedded in the mountain side."-The Viper's Heart
