Merlin Sunborn
Merlin was a pureblood elf that died in 1319. Merlin was member of the Creed of Light's High council. He was a trusted advisor to Vaelock the chosen and a powerful wizard. The council consisted of four other powerful wizards but Merlin's power exceeded them all, even Vaelock's. Merlin was a master of 8 different magics, but he leaned into pyromancy the most. In the battle of Jade River he turned the water beneath the soldiers feet turned to magma and rose into the air! It filled their throats, seared their flesh and boiled their blood. The stone they stood on melted dropping them into the lava. The rest of the Elves tried to flee, but the magma chased them at their heels and they met the same fate as the others.
When the Creed attacked the Silver Palace Merlin intensified the sun's rays. The air turned hotter than ever before. The nobles locked themselves in the palace and protected it with a magic barrier but it mattered not. Over the course of months the elves in the palace smoldered, suffocated by heat, and eventually died of starvation and heat stroke. All that time Merlin sat still waiting, until the victory was his.(His spell while effective did plunge the northwestern part of Tir Orail into a drought.)
If Merlin ever had to fight up closer he brandished two flaming swords which he named, Dawn and Ray. However powerful Merlin was he still met his end. When the Creed's temple was sacked he was put to the sword like the rest of his comrades, however unlike the other members of the council Merlin's body was never found.
