Sedes Marshlands

In the western region of the continent of Eladonia, near the Seriussin River, lies a land of year-round flooding. The Sedes Marshlands - so named for its location west of the town of Sedes - is considered by most to be uninhabitable. The marshes give off a sulfurous scent, driving many away, and though sentient beings avoid it, it is home to many unwelcoming creatures - venomous snakes and other large reptiles that would gladly prey on those who would wander through.

Geography

The Sedes Marshlands lie on the western part of the northern peninsula in Elaion. The lands here are particularly flat, and often flooded during the year. The marsh caps off a large stream that flows through the area, acting as a merging of the aquatic and terrestrial habitats. This stream is largely the freshwater that helps support regions of the northern peninsula that have been inhabited, including the town of Sedes itself.

Fauna & Flora

Though sentient beings tend to prefer not to live in what they've dubbed the Wastelands, the plant-life and animal-life that has settled here tends to thrive in its isolation. Plants that grow here rise out of the waters, with their roots submerged. Shrubs, trees, and grasses alike all find themselves living this amphibious life. Many of the fauna that make their home in the Sedes Marshlands, various species of birds - such as ducks - turtles, snakes, and other large reptiles - easily hide within the depths of the wetlands, putting those who find themselves in the wetlands even more on edge. Some of these creatures have no qualms with making a meal out of whatever they can find.

Natural Resources

Though the Sedes Marshlands provides no direct resources that Elais use, it acts as an important habitat for much of the wildlife on the northern peninsula, as well as flooding protection for the people that live near the central region of the peninsula.
