Arcanomechanics
The field of Arcanomechanics is the study and development of magically enhanced mechanisms. The field was born in the 1440s AE, when a number of prominent Magi responded to calls for magical assistance in drudgery like levitating stone for construction by gathering together and collectively resolving to invent an alternative that would allow the work to get done while requiring small amounts of interesting work on their part, rather than large amounts of boring work.
Most of the resulting devices, such as the Runic Engine, rely on the principle of converting heat into motion, and have enabled far greater levels of productivity in a wide range of fields.
