Crimson Sail

This brilliant red sail is emblazoned with the icon of a crossed cutlass and wand, and is enchanted with the ability to catch the wind extraordinarily well. If hoisted on the mast of a sailing ship, it doubles the speed of that vessel, though it still requires at least some wind in order to grant the ship any movement at all. In addition, once per day the crew of the ship can hastily reverse the sail, granting the ship the ability to move at full speed in reverse (this speed isn’t doubled, as above). Clever minds may think of other uses for the sail, such as an impromptu parachute.
