Session 10: The final approach Report

General Summary

Kate,   As promised, I am writing this letter soon after I return home. I made it to Caern Fussil safely, although I was attacked multiple times during my journey. It would seem our enemies are hell-bent on killing me. I hope you are still safe, although the presence of your family offers considerable protection, so I probably shouldn't worry.   I was pleased to find the tower in pristine shape. There were some signs that others had attempted to get inside, but the defenses have held. I must say that I am impressed, I was gone for a while after all, and the mages of Keralon are a curious lot.   Before I had the time to settle in, the tower was attacked by creatures from the Lorewood. Two pixies and a fire-resistant golem. It was not the strongest attack yet, and I am certain I could have dealt with them, but I received unexpected aid from a group of young travelers. At first I thought they were just your typical youths looking to make a name for themselves in the big city, but there was somehting special about them.   In a few I detected minor influences of fey power. After my recent ordeal I have become more attuned to the energies of the Feywild, and I could sense its subtle weave throughout many of them. I took some notes and will research what I noticed further. I will let you know what I discover. I know this is a topic that interests you.   One of the youngsters had a talent for arcane magic and showed great interest in the library of Caern Fussil. I allowed him full access as a reward for his help. He also approached me on the subject of apprenticeships in Keralon. I explained as best I could. You know it has been a while since I have been there. I took the opportunity to test his abilities and came to a remarkable conclusion.   As I expected, he has a stong connection to the Feywild in general, and the Summer Court in particular. His soul is unique in that it has a connection to only one element, fire. As you know most mortal souls are connected to at least two elements. I also tested his twin sister, and she has only one elemental connection as well, to air. I have no idea what this means or what could have caused this. Any information you have ont he subject is more than welcome.   I offered the boy an apprenticeship in Caern Fussil. I know this might conflict with our plans, but I am sure I can handle a single student without becoming too distracted. It may simply be out of curiosity, but I feel like it is a good idea to keep the boy close. The group passed the entrance exam without too much difficulty.   They headed out soon after the conclusion of the exam, just an hour ago. I warned them about the city as best I could. I am studying up on Keralon again. It is strange how quickly things change when you are gone. I kept up to date on some things through magic, but I feel I have missed so much. It is good to be back home.   I will use the spell you tought me to deliver this letter to you. I hope it works. It is a completely different kind of magic than I am used to. I still am not convinced this is the best way to stay in touch. Can you really trust animals to deliver messages, even if they are enchanted?   So I hope this letter reaches you and I await your reply.   Amarra
