All about Lycans

Chapter 1 "Lycan types"
Summary:
There are three most common types of lycans currently known.
1. Feral lycan
Those who give themselves completely in to the feral urges of the lycanthropy. They lose any previous personality, alignment and control and become the beast that inhabits them.
2. Blood lust lycan
A lycan that retains control over its form and personality but gives in to the lycans evil nature. These types are often found as bandits or mercenaries. These are known to be the most dangerous types of lycans since they can use the cunning of the cursed and the brawl of the lycan in one.
3. Controlled lycan
In certain cases, through a bond, agreement or deeper understanding of the beast a balance can be struck. Though not as common, these lycans are known to be able to use the beast inside for good. As to be expected, this usually comes with a set of challenges (see chapter "Controlling the beast").
Chapter 3 "Voices"
Excerpt
There have been cases in which a lycan gains the ability to speak to the beast inside. This beast often appears in dreams or directly in the back of their mind while they're awake (akin to telepathy). The personalities seem to vary, and not too much is known about these beastial personalities as of yet.
Chapter 8 "Controlling the beast"
Those who know a lycan near them or have become cursed themselves are recommended to follow these steps if they wish to control the beast without killing the beast or the host carrying it:
1. Check the date
Keep a calendar close at all times, be well prepared for the full moon.
2. Proper gear
No simple rope will hold a raging beast for an 8 hour night. It is recommended to get manacles sized to the beast form of the lycan. Preferably silver laced, as this makes escaping significantly harder for the creature.
3. Feed the beast
The beast is hungry and will search and eat any food it can readily find. Strongly sedated food is recommended to quiet the beasts' tantrums. This also has the added benefit that strong enough sedation will also allow the host to wake up well rested!
4. A deeper understanding
There have been cases where the host was able to control the beast within to such an extend, even the full moon couldn't enrage them. The exact method and technique behind this is yet unknown.
Chapter 9 “Uncommon animals”
Excerpt:
In rare cases, usually in the category of controlled lycans, is the host capable of casting simple spells in beast form.
Appendix A, excerpt 4
A noteworthy finding is that lycans of which the host is a caster of any kind, seem to lean more in to the warlock archetypes of magic after controlling the beast inside. Most of these seem to adhere to the devil Bael. Little is known of this devil at the moment of writing.
Appendix B, exceprt 2
It is a noteworthy mention that committing themselves to the beast within and attempting to gain a deeper control over it comes at a risk. There have been recorded cases in which the lycan inside started actively resisting the removal of the curse. Causing some lycans to require much stronger magic to be completely severed once again from the beast inside.
