History of Holimion

The city of Holimion was a city founded in warfare and civil wars.
About ten millenea ago, the city was founded by the Greyhawk high elves. Back then, humans and other races had not yet reached the lands the Greyhawk inhibited, allowing them the freedom to treat the lands as their own. The city was created from various types of light stone, giving the city it's almost holy look it still has until the current date.
During the first two centuries of construction of Greyhawk, the city flourished. Even in its unfinished state, life was booming in the city parts that were already finished.
However as time progressed the elves found themselves in need of further support to increase the speed of the construction. Thollim Holimion (counselor of Greyhawk city) suggested accepting trade from a dwarven mining settlement up north. This trading agreement would immensely increase the speed the city could be constructed as. However after this trading agreement came into place, unrest started to spread amongs the Greyhawk elves. About five centuries after the trade agreement came into place, the city of Greyhawk was finally finished.
However even after its completion, unrest continued through the populace. "A city build for dwarves..." and "the Greyhawk name has been brought to shame" were statements muttered among the groups spreading the unrest. Over the next century, the unrest in the populace grew to significant size, bringing the peaceful Greyhawk elves to fight their own kind in the big civil war of Greyhawk.
The war continued for about 3 years inside the city walls, separating two halves of the city: The first half who believed prosper of their people should be most important, and the second half who stated the Greyhawk name should keep its honor above everything else. During the war, a leader stood up to lead each side into battle, Nandë Holimion (son of Thollim) and Caun Arassost (old counselor of Greyhawk city). Supporters from either side were spread far across the city causing thousands of elves to die during the war.
After the three year wars, Caun Arassosts' rebellion was defeated and exiled by Nandë. The remaining elves were quick to assign Nandë Holimion as their new leader. And as such, the first king of Greyhawk had risen. Fullfilling the separation from the now exiled elves, the city had been renamed "Holimion", for the herioc actions and leadership as shown by Nandë Holimion during the war.
This conflict has also sprung two tribes of Greyhawk to exist; the Greyhawk high elves of Holimion and the Greyhawk valley elves.
Following the war, life in Holimion returned to peace and prosper over the following 8 millenea. In the later years, various other races also reached and contacted the city in search of home, work or trading. And as the old ruler of Holimion had dictated, the city was open to all that mean well to the elves of Holimion. Causing Holimion to become one of the first major multi-race cities.
Over the last millenia however, the peace in Holimion was for the first time since many years at risk by a major threat; a sizeable orc race to the east was nearing the lands of Holimion. However as neither side appeared interested in war, conflict remained at bay for the time being.
