Surrounded by piles of ancient tomes, a young Elf boy buries himself in his work, studying anything that he can pull from the dusty shelves of the library in the Ylmaris Citadel. He is not yet old enough to begin his Paladin training, left behind by his siblings to study history and other subjects until he can join the academy his father runs. The days are measured by chapters read, pages turned, and hours spent pouring over a variety of material. While his destiny may be to join the Knights of Yggdrasil, the boy wishes to become a scholar.
Corym Ylyndar is the youngest of the Ylyndar children, born nearly two and a half centuries after his elder sister. He does not remember the harshness of the Eldritch War. He does not know of a world outside the walls of Yllvalion except what he can find in books. His days are spent in his father's study, reading everything that can be brought to him. Corym does not yet train with his siblings; they consider him just a babe, too young to see the reality of the Paladin way of life. So Elduin bombards the boy with books, hoping to keep the fanciful ideas the boy yet entertains.
The youngest son is a genius in ways, already a Scholar at his young age. While the library of Yllvalion is nowhere near the size of that at the Unending Scroll, it is still large and the boy has nearly found the end. Elduin requests books to be sent from the Elven capital so that Corym may continue learning. The older man often entertains the idea of sending the young boy to study at the Unending Scroll, to be something other than a Paladin. With five children already vying for positions in the Order, it is only fair to allow the youngest to grow beyond the confines of the Northern Outposts.
