Slumber

Physi for Narcolepsy

A Dwarf in the mine begins to feel the tell-tale signs of his muscles beginning to freeze, the earliest notes that he will soon fall asleep. The little creature in his pocket pokes out, scanning the area before hopping away to a corner shaft, away from the rail carts and falling rock. With a small squeak, the creature marks the area as clear, a safe place for him to sit for the moments that his body is no longer in his control.   The small ball of fur that resides in the pocket of the Dwarf is just one instance of a device that has saved many that have such a sleeping condition. There are some things that even magic cannot dispel, but in many cases, magic can help ease the effects. Narcolepsy can be somewhat unpredictable, but with the aid of these furry creatures, no one has to sustain unnecessary injuries.   The Slumber was another discovery that followed in line after the Cerebellum was found by the Unending Scroll. The small plum-colored creature was found sleeping, giving some insight into what it may help with. Even so, research was needed to know if the tiny creature only helped with insomnia or one of the various other sleeping conditions that affected so many.

Slumber were one of the earliest Physi to be created, found sleeping and warm, waiting to help out its user. It quickly became a necessary safety tool for those who were prone to narcoleptic episodes.

Utility

Physi with plum color are known for their ability to predict when someone has a narcoleptic episode and help them get to safety before the episode or to secure their safety during an episode. This could be waking up their person by nudging them awake if they fall asleep in a dangerous situation or just providing overall safety of an area if the instance is not dire.   Depending on the person who holds the Slumber, these creatures can also aid with the side effects of narcoleptic episodes such as fatigue, loss of muscle control, hallucinations, and anything else. The Slumber may change shape, vibrate, or heat up depending on what is needed in the given situation.

Manufacturing

The Slumber was one of the first Physi to be reliably created. Once the Cerebellum was mass-produced with little issue, the Unending Scroll moved to producing the Slumber and another of the Physi that seemed the easiest to make. When first found, a sleeping Slumber gave a good idea of what it did, but more research was needed before being mass-produced. Another team was dedicated to the creation of these creatures so that they could be shared across the continent.

Access & Availability
While the Slumber was created in the Elven Kingdom, these creatures have become widely available throughout the Northern Continent through a variety of outlets. Most commonly, these creatures can be given to individuals by healers or Clerics if it is determined that there is a need. It is also possible to purchase these creatures from some merchants, but often only in larger cities.   The cost of these creatures is kept low as the powers of Vóreios have determined the effects of the Slumber to be a necessity for many. Healers and Clerics will often give these out for free, while merchants can charge no more than a single Vóreios Gold for one.
Discovery
The Slumber is a creation of the Unending Scroll, though far more intentional than some of the other Physi. Originally, a group of students set out to create an artificial creature that would produce a fine silk, but their first few attempts created less than satisfactory results.   After many attempts, a small furry creature was created. This creature, soon to be named Physi (or Fizzy), had very interesting properties. The various colors of the creatures denoted different effects. It was determined that these creatures could be used to aid with various disabilities that could not be easily aided through magic.
